My Weekend Recap: Making Our Legacy Known & Krunk 7

This past weekend I was able to go out and support our local artists and attend some shows. One was a R&b/Hip Hip  show at UW of Seattle, the other a dance show at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma. I really enjoyed both, but wished more people went out and supported the talented youth our town has to offer.

Making our Legacy Known was a nice treat out of the house on Friday night. As some of you may already know, I am a huge fan of Royce the Choice and GMK, so I definitely enjoyed their headlining performances. Sean Carson did a wonderful job singing a few familiar songs from his mixtape and interacting with the audience. At times it was a bit drug out with some of his comedic talents, but overall it was was a much enjoyed performance from Carson which included a sneak peep show of his A+ six-pack! Starting the show was an artist I hadn’t had the pleasure of listening to before, but glad I caught her that night! Jusmoni, along with a back up singer, set the tone with their melodic voice. Despite the audio disfunction and seemingly unorganized line-up, the event was definitely a fun and positive production.

Krunk 7 BFABB was an amazing production hosted by Reality Check. The is an even they put on every year and invite over 10 dance teams to come out and show off their skills. All proceeds from the show went to Reality Check youth outreach program. The host, JT, was incredibly funny and kept the show entertaining in between teams.  I was most moved by the four girls who did an interpretive dance about slavery to Beyonce’s I Was Here. Let me just tell you, I shed a tear. Above, is a video of one of the teams Krumping. I highly suggest catching the next production they have.

NOW THAT’S THE JUICE!
